Project 365: February 7th 2010

I would like to state for the records that I think palm trees + rain is a stupid combo. If I see a palm tree I don't wanna see anything other than sunny skies.
Note: I am a bit of a weather nerd so there's something about a right angle palm tree that makes me excited, however I also has something to do with the situation being VERY wrong.

Project 365: This week

It's been a chaotic week but I still haven't missed a day!

Project 365: February 6th 2010

Kaylee loves it when I stamp her hand. Just about anytime she sees the stamps out, she'll ask if I will give her a stamp.
Last night was no different so I gave her a butterfly on one hand. A little while later I went to the bathroom and when I opened the door, there was my darling daughter holding one of my flower stamps. "Mommy, stamp!" it was then that I noticed it was inked... I'll admit at that moment I pictured that in the minute I'd been absent she'd covered my scrapbook room with purple stamp pad.
When I went into my scrapbook room, what did I find?! No mess at all! Kaylee had gotten up on my chair, taken the lid off of the stamp pad, inked the stamp, given herself a stamp and put the lid back on. Good girl!
Looks like my daughter is growing up to be a stamper.

Effer dares

Effer dares. It's a website http://www.efferdares.com/ and a book I bought... scrapbooking on the topic of "me". It is by far the most nerve wracking thing, which is a bit strange since I consider myself a pretty candid person. Scrapbooking "me" makes me blush. The challenges make me nervous and excited all at the same time. Let's take the current Effer Dares:

first crush.
first kiss.
first something.

My first crush, technically Christopher Vincent. I'm sure since we followed each other all the way through high school that at some point he found out that in Elementary School I was smitten. The first example I found on the website was "first boyfriend", it was short, sweet, and amusingly 90s. My first boyfriend was David. I'll never forget him.

Simply I could write:
You were my first boyfriend.
You were my first dance.
My first knight in shining armor.
We held hands, we danced, you sang and I listened.
You made me enjoy "All my loving" by the Beatles, but I only love it when I heard Across the Universe because it was the closest I'd come to finding the way you sounded when you sang it.
You were the first person I ever lost who was close to me.

I doubt I will ever scrapbook this because it makes me feel exposed, despite being able to speak openly about the experience. There is something about putting it down in a scrapbook that makes me feel more naked than any journal entry or conversation ever could.

I am very happy that I purchased this new camera, however I am still working on mastering the art of the close-up. I could take a macro picture with the best of em using my old camera. Now I'm having to relearn the tricks.

It has been raining since Monday, almost an entire work week of rain. I live in Las Vegas so this is very strange to me. It had no adverse effect until I had to brave a puddle during lunch.

Rain and overnight cold makes for frosty windows. I really don't think I should have to use my defrost button living here in Vegas. My review mirror was frosty, I would have wiped it off but it looked very cold.

Project 365: January 19th 2010

Last night was full of adventure. All the way to Arizona!
Technically a flawed picture, but I really like how it came out.
I have discovered that I need to learn how to use the night settings on my new camera.

Kaylee loves playing on the coin operated rides. No money needed. Climbing and pretending is plenty good.

Project 365: January 16th 2010

Kaylee has been going around for quite awhile now saying "No David, mamma said" at first it was just "No David" and I figured she was mimicking a teacher at daycare but after she did it multiple times I began to wonder who this David kid was and why he was always in trouble. One of my scrapbook magazines featured a "scrapbook the books your kids love" article. "No David" was one of them. Today, I finally made it to Barnes & Noble to buy it for Kaylee. She can practically read the book to herself.

Challenge Masters has Card challenges. I have never done cards before so this was my first ever. The challenge had to include: a stamp, a brad, inking, and an embellishment.

One Little Word Challenge

Ch{all}enge Masters is pleased to announce our very first contest!! YAY!! CLICK THE LINK ON THE SIDE BAR!

In the scrapping world, Ali Edwards started the tradition of One Little Word & in her words here is what it means:

"Can you identify a single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2010?

It can be something tangible or intangible. It could be a thought or a
feeling or an emotion. It can be singular or plural. The key is to find
something that has personal meaning for you. This is not your mother's
word or your spouse's word or your child's word - this is YOUR word.

One little word can have big meaning in your life if you allow yourself to
be open to the possibilities. And here's one thing that is totally
interesting: sometimes a word will pop into your brain and it will not
make any sense to you right now. Give it some time. Let it percolate a
bit. I have often found that our hearts speak to us in very unique
ways. Maybe this is a word you need to hear but just aren't ready for
it yet. Again, be open to the possibilities."

Our first contest is going to revolve around Ali's One Little Word. You are to create a layout using your chosen 2010 One Little Word as your title & your journaling must express why you chose your specific word. Pretty easy, huh?? One only entry per person is allowed. The winner will be chosen by random draw, so this is not a contest about whose layout is the best! All layouts must be uploaded to our gallery by Valentine's Day (February 14th, 2010) by 11:59PM ET to be eligible for the draw! Please make sure "One Little Word Contest" is in your title line. I'm sorry, but if those words are not in your title line, your entry will be disqualified. This contest is open to everyone including Ch{all}enge Master Design Masters! :-)

The prize will be a $25 gift certificate to the online store of your choice. Now here's where it gets a bit interesting. I have posted a number in the admin forum on the site. When we reach that number of entries, I will increase the prize by $10!! For every increment of 10 entries after that, I will increase the prize another $10!!! The more entries we have the bigger the prize!!! So, you will definitely want to tell all your friends about this contest!! Believe me, the more entries the better!!

Have fun, tell all your friends & if you have questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask!!

Can't wait to see all the entries!!
Terri

This morning Mishie, Kaylee and I went for brunch at iHop. While we were waiting for Mishie one of the girls made Kaylee a balloon animal penguin. Our waiter also educated us on eggs "over easy" and "over medium".

Kaylee is learning how to put off bedtime. Last night was the first time we have put on "Elmo feet" without tears, she did it willingly and even when I thought she was asleep, she would wake up if I tried to take them off.

I did not intend to be special today. I intended to go to Wendy's where I planned to eat a normal menu item. When I reached Wendy's, it was a Starbucks. Carl's Jr. was my next choice, which is how I received my "Special" Western Bacon Cheeseburger, minus the cheese.

Project 365 kit contest

I would so VERY much love to win a Project 365 kit seeing as how I have no idea when it will be available again. If it isn't available by January 31st, chances are I will do my own version.
Happy Daisy is doing a contest to win won! check out the blog, it is very cute!

Darling picture, terrible idea. I think we'll stick with letting Kaylee climb things I can reach the top of while being firmly planted on the ground.

Project 365: January 2nd 2010

Riding in style
My darling daughter just showed up this way.
Today we made a trip to the mall. Kaylee insisted on going out in style! At the mall we were fortunate enough to run into one of Kaylee's friends from daycare at the play place. It was really fun to watch Kaylee play. I would have love pictures of that, but photographing with other people's kids around is touchy.
Paparazzi shot!

Scrapbook layout: My Girl

This layout was completed for the Design Masters Recipe Challenge.
2 Pieces of pattern paper
Eyelets
Alphabet Stickers
Chipboard
Embossing
Embossing done in gold around the picture (kinda hard to see on the scan)
I had punched the hole for the eyelet only to discover, I didn't have any, so I stuck a brad in the hole instead.

Mikki McGehee: January 1st 2010. Still in my Wall-E/Eve shirt I wore to the PJ party last night. I had a wonderful time laughing with old friends and new friends. Once I woke up this morning there were friends and breakfast.
Dinner tonight
Today I found out about a photo project called "Project 365" the concept is to take a picture a day for an entire year. Will I succeed? perhaps. I love taking photos and I think the idea is wonderful.
